My mom has pulmonary emboli

She texted me yesterday to tell me that she felt short of breath and nauseous and just all-over not feeling good. She wanted to know if that's what it felt like when we had pneumonia recently. I told her that if it was pneumonia, they could treat it really quickly and the faster she's seen, the faster she'll feel better.

Well she texted me a few hours later to say that they found that she has several blood clots in her right lung, and later they found them in the left as well. The good news is that she doesn't have them in her legs, which they checked for thoroughly.

I am thankful that they found it right away and they are treating her with blood thinners, but she's not out of the woods and they are keeping her at least a couple more days.

What I find interesting is that the doctors told her once you've had it, it's likely to recur. How scary! I asked if it could be any of the meds that she takes that would contribute to this and they said no.

I went to bed last night with this awful feeling of dread, and although I never bring my cell to bed with me, I did last night. I really think she's going to be fine now, but this type of thing seems so sneaky and hard to predict!

Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers if you can.
